While I love wearing my Speedmaster, there was something about the bracelet that just wasn't right with me. For some reason between the removable links and micro-adjustments I was still unable to achieve the perfect fit. Add to that I am a vintage guy at heart and the stock bracelet just looks too modern to me. So, I decided to take the plunge and make remake some of the classic models for a new generation of Omega lovers.
One bracelet, one pair of end-links, one pair of 2.5mm custom spring bars
Please note: The 1171 is available in two lengths, Short and Long. The Short is for wrist sizes of 7 inches and under (18cm). Anything over that, go with Long.
Lug width to Buckle: 20mm to 16mm (19mm to 16mm)
Length (mm) : Long- 190mm, Short- 175mm
Min.length after adjusted : Long 130mm, Short 115mm
Buckle : Stamped 316L Stainless Steel 16mm Pressure Clasp
Thickness (mm) : 3.5mm
Net Weight (gram) : 56
Spring bar diameter: 1.8mm
Lug end style : Standard (Hollow) Curved End
Adjustment type : Pins
Material : 316L Stainless Steel, all solid links (standard end links)
Designed to fit :19mm (FOIS) and 20mm Speedmaster, also some Seamaster models
Installation tip: Mounting these can be a challenge because the opening is somewhat narrow. I have found it is easier to flip the watch over and mount from the underside. Make sure you have the proper spring-bar tool to help guide those bars into place!
Pressure Clasp: A couple of guys mentioned that they love the vintage pressure clasp, but wish it had a bit more "snap" when securing it. You can adjust the tension by slightly moving the small tab on the inside of the clasp. Moving it toward the hinge (away from the bracelet) very slightly will make it harder to close and create the desired effect. Again, a tiny adjustment with needle-nose pliers and check, repeating if needed. (See last picture).
