Pressure clasp adjustment

It's always exciting when a customer lets me know that one of my bracelets fits a new watch.  Sometimes the bracelet will fit the case radius perfectly and align with the spring bar holes with a nice tight fit between the end links and case.  Occasionally, though, you will need to do some light modifications to make it work.

Below you'll find one of the most common mods needed to get your Uncle Seiko bracelets on the wrist where they belong.  If you haven't already, checkout the Bracelet Compatibility Chart to view a list of all bracelet/watch combinations I offer.

Pressure clasp adjustment

One of the common complaints with pressure clasps is that they are either too hard to open or they open too easily.  I get this question weekly.  Thankfully, the solution is simple, and my pressure clasps can be dialed in to your exact preference.  You will want a pair of needle-nose pliers, leatherman or some other tool to bend the tab.  Follow the guides below to adjust yours.

Pressure clasp open too easily?

  • If the pressure clasp opens too easily, you can make a minor adjustment (see picture). You can bend that little tab towards the direction of the hinge (just a little) so that it snaps closed more firmly. Move it just a little and test it. If it didn't work, try it again a little more. I use a pair of needle nose pliers and it works every time. Let me know if you have any questions.
